Technology Alone Will Not Transform Teaching

The article “Wrong focus: teacher-centered classrooms and technology” from Education Week talks about the failure of EdTech to live up to the promise of a new classrooms of the future for two key reasons:

  1. We continue to focus on the value of EdTech by what the teachers do with it NOT what the students do with it.
  2. We continue to focus on the value of EdTech by what happens to the high stakes, standardized test scores.

What Things Want

What Things Want
by Robert Bly

You have to let things
Occupy their own space.
This room is small,
But the green settee

Likes to be here.
The big marsh reeds,
Crowding out the slough,
Find the world good.

You have to let things
Be as they are.
Who knows which of us
Deserves the world more?
